Survey Research & Administration

Survey Research & Administration Home

A survey is conducted to give a direction to the research, by collecting the information required. The scale and method of conducting a survey depends to a great extent upon the kind of research being done, and the hypothesis which the researcher has set out to prove. Deciding the scope of survey and selecting the right target group for survey can be difficult at a primary stage, especially if you are working on a research paper for the first time. Our Dissertation Statistics service includes the determination of the accurate survey size. We also help you with choosing the method for conducting a survey which will give you the best results.

Types of Survey:

The type of data you seek is dependent upon the research problem. Surveys do not necessarily seek options, so various ways of getting information can be considered. If the research problem does require a questionnaire to sample opinion, a cross sectional survey is most appropriate. The following are the various types of surveys that can be conducted by researchers:

Census:A census is a comprehensive and complete type of survey. A census aims for responses from everyone on a population to get basic demographic and economic data for long term planning and information..
Cross sectional survey: Cross sectional surveys represent a particular population at a given time. Majority of the surveys are cross sectional in nature.
Longitudinal survey:Longitudinal surveys repeat cross sectional surveys. Unless surveys are repeated, they do not give much understanding about how respondents' views are changing.

Collection of Information:

Once you have decided what will be your method of survey, you must choose the appropriate way of delivery of the questionnaire. For some surveys, personal contact might be necessary, in which case, you can select face to face or street interviews. In other cases, where the emphasis is just on objectivity of information, other indirect methods can be used. Options of conducting survey include:

Street Interviews Mail interviews.
Group administration. Face to face interviews.
Phone interviews. Internet questionnaires

People involved in Survey:

A researcher needs to be a manager. Large scale surveys require several people, carrying out many tasks. They are at different levels and specialise in different tasks related to a survey. Following people are required for a large scale survey:

Survey director. Survey manager.
Field supervisor Interviewer
Data analyst.

You must not just select the appropriate survey method, but also make an optimum mix of methods. The team questionnaire must be formatted with the exact queries which will get you the desired response. If the respondents do not understand the questionnaire or are not ready to respond to interviews, the whole purpose of the survey gets defeated. When conducting your research, you may seek our expert help and ensure that you deliver contributing research quickly. This stage also forms a part of  Dissertation Statistics Service.
